Martial Art ArticlesStrength is your capability of doing a conducting a physical task while power is applied strength. Strength is very important for people involved in the practice of “reality” fighting, even more then the “sportive” system, reason being that reality combat is very chaotic.

Let’s say when you are walking down the car park and for what ever reason your awareness sucked and someone grabs you from behind, if you are not strong, it’s very likely that you will be thrown to the ground and get the shit kicked out of you. Also in multiple opponent scenario strength plays a major role, there will be a lot of times when you will have to strong arm your way out, “leverage” “technique” will not come out easy when you get 3 guys all over you suddenly.

Instead of spending all these time discussing what to do against a bigger and stronger assailant you should start getting stronger yourself! If you are strong you save yourself a lot of hassle, you can smash their heads on things, throw them off to the traffic, pick up tables, whatever, you get the idea. There are a lot of guys out there that have no technique; no training but just being a strong aggressive bastard had got them out of loads of scrap. There is a talk of striking weak areas such as eyes, throat etc. against a bigger opponent yes you are right they are unprotected but that’s basically the same thing I will do against someone my size, the thing here is, people react differently, some people will crumble when you eye gouge or kick them in the balls while some don’t regardless of their size. So PLEASE, rely on yourself, not a dirty Ninja super death touch. It’s down to guts, aggression, conditioning, strength, when you are in the shit, and I mean totally fucked up (As they call it FUBAR in the body guard industry) Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition, like when someone has a blade an inch close to your neck or struggling with a enemy armed with a firearm, you BETTER be strong my friend, it all boils down to you yourself, not what technique you choose to use.

You might say, “Oh I have no time to go to the gym.” And this and that. You don’t have to bench press 500lbs, snatch 300lbs, it’s good if you could while maintaining proper and complete fitness! Seeing that most of you will say you don’t have time or you are always tired, but I think you can wake up 5 minutes early right? So try this

Do some light stretch, and then go for 5 minute of complete burpees (Adding the push up part of it) non stop.

Tell me how you feel. You don’t need an hour to get a intense workout.

I believe most of you if you have time to read this article you could already be doing small fitness drill though your day, this is good thing too because it teaches your body to constantly react to physical activities, through this you develop readiness towards fighting if anything happens (since you are a ninja!) and you are always gradually building your strength.

Only have one minute breaks?

Try doing max push ups in one minutes through out the day.

I always say if you are really strapped for time you could just stick to burpees because that basically gives you everything.

Quit your half an hour TV show, quit the games, do some short workouts, it’s good for your health anyways.

Homework:

5 Burpees
10 Push ups
10 Squats
10 Sit ups

This count as ONE set

For the first time go non stop for 5-6 sets, work up to 10 sets, when you can do 10 sets non stop crank up the burpees and make it 10 reps, then work up to 10 sets again.

2 times a week is enough, it should take about no less then half an hour.

This is aimed towards beginners, if you are wayyy too good for this wait till the next article series!

As always, KILL The training, don’t do it, don’t be half hearted on anything, power lifters look abit silly when they knock themselves out head butting weights, but that’s the attitude you should have towards your training. You need to get use to that mindset for fighting.
