A brief introduction 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hello everybody and my best regards to all, my name is Juan Carlos, I'm a cuban combat practitioner (I don't like to say "martial artist" mainly in Wing Tzun Kung Fu, Escrima and some others systems.

I began practicing karate in 1989 but short after I change to Wing Tzun and I've trained this system since then. In the 90's we trained very hard because in cuba there wasn't WCh instructors or teachers, but we contacted Dai Sifu Emin Boztepe in 2000 and he began to train us since 2002. But also I'm an FMA fan and practitioner of Latosa Escrima (via EBMAS) and some forms of Balintawak and Ilustrisimo Kalis. But I love knifes, and my training has pointed to knifes since some years, that's why I have researched many systems and conceptions on this topic.

Recently I discovered all the Selfprotection/Combatives field and I was awesome for it simplicity and training methodology. I have change a lot of my traditional martial art training to those from Combatives and incorporated many things too.

At the end I'm always learning and absorbing new knowledge, and refining my not-so-good combat system, so I expect to meet a lot of people here and to exchange information with them because I live in cuba and it's very very difficult to me to obtain materials, information and training videos.

A very big hug from Cuba to all and excuse my english...

Hey Juan,
welcome.

I did a seminar with Boztepe a few years back, though my WC was primarily under Sam Kwok.
Good to have you aboard and bless your country for Bacardi!

Hi mule

Thanks for your words, we have did 3 seminars with Boztepe, since 2002 and he's amazing... because his WT approach is very direct and scientific...
I hope to learn a lot on this forum... and to enhance my knowledge, ah Bacardi isn't a cuban rum anymore, it's an american rum made in Puerto Rico, in cuba there's "Havana Club Rum"

That's right mule, Bacardi was a cuban rum before 1959, but short after the Revolution the owner left cuba and settle in Miami, and he take the name with him... cuba had to change the name to Havana Club but it's the same rum at the end... it was the same with a cuban cigar ...

GRRR!

I shall be searching for Havana Rum over here now.

I'll never look at a Cuba Libre the same again until I get some.

I think Havana Club is better rum than Bacardi because they stealed the name but not the process nor the fabric... and don't worry, I know you can buy Havana Club in many countries... just look around

Hey Juan,
I got some bad news today, but I managed to find some Havana Rum today and 'm sitting at home nursing my sorrows witha Bonafide Cuba Libre.

I's expensive over here, so it'll be restricted to special occasions, but it is gorgeous, so thanks for the 'heads up' on that!

Hi mule,

I'm glad you finally found out Havana Club rum, although I prefer on the rocks than cuba libre, BTW the best for me is Havaba Club Reserve, better than 7 years old Havana Club.

Don't worry, if you visit my country I will give you a bottle.. take care...
