Hi All

my name is Denise, im 35 (is that too old to start all this shananigins-sp)
I began my journey in 2006 (well i did do judo when i was a kid)

It all started when those infamous door knockers came to my door and asked if I wanted to try Karate. Well my instructor was actually ok but the more I learnt bout martial arts the more i realised that the my karate class was nothing more than a business.

So one day i had to use the local leisure centre loo and i had saw a man in his fifties hook kick a six foot guy round the back of the head (not in the loo but a class was taking place) and i said to myself 'thats the class for me' so i left the 'doorknockers' and joined Rupert Parks Lau Gar/Kickbox class
-and as they say the rest is history. Oh i do a bit of Capoeira too

I think we may even have a thread on those Karate door knockers you refer to! I know it really annoys 95% of the MA community..

Yep i was a 'student',or should i say customer of GKR. I left as soon as i found out that there instructor belts hid their 'real' grade. I once had a orange belt instructor-go figure!

If you remember the Simpsons where Marge took piano lessons to teach kids piano lessons and as long she was one lesson ahead she was ok-well its a bit like that.

but some people enjoy it and the social side of it-i just wanted more........
