Chinese Martial Arts Forum 9 Months ago
Guys,

There is a growing number of posters on M.E now and I felt like testing the water on expandng the forums...

Obviously we can look at diversifying each section because to be fair Chinese Martial Arts covers a vast collection of fighting systems.

But hey ho lets give it a go.

You are right Kung Fu/Wushu can be anything and everything, from Qigong to gymnastics. I think the most popular is Wing Chun and Tai Chi.

I think its a good idea Pete, split the arts/disciplines up into manageable chunks. Think you may end up splitting Chinese MA's up even further though

I'd definitely be interested in a Wing Chun/Wing Tsun/Ving Tsun etc etc section as i study Wing Tsun adn there's not a great deal on this Discipline on the site at the moment

Nice one Tom.

Yeah hopefully you will see us branch out with the different forums.

In the next stage of IT development we have planned we will be totally overhauling the existing navigation on the articles homepage. We will be keeping the standard 'Interviews, Techniques etc ' but then sub dividing into styles, and then sub styles and then topics etc etc. So it will be much easier to read what your interested in.

Stay tuned.

You study Wing Chun also. How long have you.I am sutprised at how many Wing Chun schools there are where I live now in the USA, and so many different styles aswell. In Hong Kong the Ip Man clan is the main one and everyone claims to have a conection to Ip Man even if they don't. I have a friend from college from Singapore and he studied a branch called Cho Family Wing Chun, it is popular in south east asia.

I study WingTsun is the Leung Ting and K.Kernspecht school of WingChun. Leung ting was one of Yip Man's students when he was teaching.

Check out the below link to learn a bit more about the WT branch of WingChun.
http://www.wingtsunwelt.com/

I've been studying WT for about 4-5 months and am really enjoying it pysically, mentally and socially.

To be honest I hadn’t heard about WingChun or any of its other schools until I started doing some research on the type of Martial Art/Discipline I wanted to study. Our school is one of the only ones up in the north of England but as I understand it its got thousands of schools around the world.

One of the great things about where i come from is that we get to go to Seminars etc and train with Great Grandmaster Leung Ting and Grandmaster Kernspecht when they visit the UK or Europe. I've yet to go to one (Damn you work) but really looking forward to it.

If you are thinking of having a forum for each style it would be way too many, as there are so many. Maybe southern/northern style split and tai chi may be an idea? Just for starters anyway.

Maybe it would be more fitting to just have a gongfu forum and a neigong/qigong forum? I've always hated the way some people seperate Taiji from gongfu.

Kind of like a;
"Here is Chinese MA, these are some of the more popular styles"?

Like I said, I would have a fighting arts forum and a Neigong/Qigong forum.

That way, no major devisions, and we cover both aspects of Chinese martial arts.
