I watched the youtube video of the seminar in Israel - looks like quality training.

So what influence has the Vietnamese culture had on the Wing Chun training?

It's not as influenced by culture as by master Yen Chai Wan. He is a legend in Vietnam, he was great teacher and great fighter . He guarded caravans in china and vietnam So he had a lot of opportunities t prove himself as a fighter. His system very differ from other chinese wing chun systems i saw , it more soft and flexible.
Another interesting fact about vietnamse wing chun system is the way of teaching. The main purpose of the teacher to teach the princeples of the system and then following this principles each student can adapt the systems for himself , for his body type , his power . That the reason that each master doing quen ( mean kata in vietnamese) in his own way. So this style for people who can think and not just copy movement of the teacher.

Be all you can be as the individual - I like the idea.

How do you assess rank/grade etc?

It is traditional school , so we have no any ranks or belts . But every one knows what he worth, for us that is enough
When a one feels that he want to share his knowledge, one asks permission from the teacher and if the teacher thinks the student level is enough for teaching he gives permission.

It's all good.
I've been trying to pick up information about the Non Yip Man arms of the lineage tree in Wing Chun for a few years now.
