Questions to genac.

Had a good read and view through the site and video's you linked.

Gut feeling, is that there are things which have cross pollenated from Yip Man's lineage into what I saw in the clips, or perhaps vice versa?

As you travel to the mountain, there may be people ahead of you. You may pass some of these people on the way, and some of them may pass you. You are all going to the same place, so it is as well to be civil to each other on the journey!

Good luck on your journey, I hope that our paths cross, and we may travel together for a time!

If you touch my Llama, I WILL kill you!

Mule if you use Firefox there should be a language translator you can add as an extension. That might have Vietnamese as an option.

I shall have to have a look properly when i get a chance

Hi Mule , it hard to say is there is some "cross pollenation" between the lineages. As far as i know master Yen Chay Wan learn wing chun from two masters , so one of the lineages is common with Ip Man's lineage and the other one is closer to Jee Shim wing chun . Besides Yen Chay Wan was master of few other styles as well. And sometimes he called his system The fist of the southern shaolin .
But all this is a history and now hard to know what really happened those days.
Now vietnamese wing chun system very differ from Ip Mans . It have different forms , only Sim Lim Tao is common for both of systems , i'd even say name Sim lim tao is common because the form and the way one doing it completely different.Vinh Xuan ( vietnamese wing chun ) also have wodden dummy form but the dummy is different as well as the from itself. But most important difference of course it's the "engine" , the principles of the system . The power generation , tactic and strategy system , internal work all this have no common with Ip Mans system.
I could write a lot of words explaining the difference but it won't worth the effort. I think the only way to understand what I'm talking about is to see it live once, and that the reason we organizing this seminar in US.
