'Grasp Sparrows Tail' alludes to a story about Yang Chen Fu when challenged placed a sparrow in his palm and by softening his palm wouldn't allow the sparrow to get the push down it needed to fly away. The challenger chose not to pursue the challenge.

'Monkey steals peach' or 'repulse monkey' alludes to the story of the monkey god who stole some Budhhist spells so that he could travel between heaven and earth and the Gods were having a feast of peaches and he decided to steal them, in the technique you offer him a peach with one hand and as he reaches down (from the cloud he's traveling on - anyone remember the 'Monkey' series on television?)you withdraw the hand with the peach in it and politely (because no invites the monkey god into their lives) repulse him with the other hand.

'Part the Wild Horses Mane' is self explanatory.

The names tell you how to apply the techniques.
