Karate ref loses the plot;; 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I've got some insider information on this, but what is your reaction to this?

This was over 10 years ago in Mexico.

It looks to me, like it was an interstyle tournament and the kid in blue is used to a different competition format, more sport Karate than Kumite.
From what I was told, the kid in Blue said something about the refs mother in Spanish, not realising the Japanese ref spoke spanish like a native.
You have to look closely, but the first blow is a headbutt.
I was talking to a guy who knows the ref personally, and he said it would really have taken something serious to make him flip out like that.
There's also some talk that the student in white is either his son, or a student of his.

I think it goes against the karate ethos to bring that kind of trash talking thuggish fighting attitude to a tournament. Looked really painful

Both the competitor and the ref are wrong in this instance. the competitor should've been disqualified on unsportsmanlike conduct, but the ref should be barred from ever officiating a match ever again. I don't care what he might have said, that was really uncalled for.

We all know Karate works but that is terrible, although my sister could probably headbut someone from behind then kick him twice in the head when hes out cold.

Pretty shocking. Thats what Anger does though i guess. The ref saw red and lost his cool big time. Headbutting, kicks to the head while the guy is on the floor dazed and the head stamp are all pretty serious offenses in anyones book.

I'd even go so far as to say head stamping should be classed as attempted murder unless your life is in severe danger

If you think about it, the ref would need to be at least a black belt instructor as well as a trained referee. I think this makes his over reaction even more worrying, that someone of that level of martial arts still has no control over his anger.

Thats wrong in so many ways.

I agree with the comment about head stamping being a serious offence. If someone's down they are down, In fact the head butt did the job. The guy is supposed to be professional and that should never have happened.

Makes me wonder how many other flip outs happen in a proffesional sports event. I know I seen quite a few...
