Paris,

Hi nice to meet ya.
Tarot is lots of fun and really a very traditional pursuit. Never know what it might turn up.
Pete,
You asked me what style is shinden yoshin ryu. It's jujutsu, very close to the way traditional jujutsu is done in Japan. The techniques (kata) are done very plainly and simply, meant for self defense application. No sports.
Some sources state that shinden yoshin ryu is derived from shinto yoshin ryu (that is also my belief) but others state that it is derived from some form of Takagi ryu (some people prefer that opinion over the other.) Either way, it's gendai derived from gendai so it's barely worth mentioning really.
The school's main focus isn't even on it's fighting techniques, it has more focus on personal affairs and conduct, especially in relationship to preparation for military service, civic duty or emergency services. It's funny because back in the day a lot of schools were like this, same orientation (duty and service) but now ya just can't find them anymore... that's why I posted web-pages to the net to make a record. It's a post-war school (Korea and Vietnam era). Most of these post-war schools were like that in case the students ended up joining the military (cold war era and all that jazz.) S'funny because this kinda school used to be a dime a dozen and now ya can't find them anywhere...
