BOB - Body Opponent Bag 5 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Does anyone have one of these?

http://www.bytomic.com/detail.asp?urn=31

Looks like a great training aid, but at £250+ it's a bit pricey. I am strongly considering getting one in the next month or so when I move house, but I don't want to splash out then find out that it's crap.

Anyone have an opinion of one?

Funny you should mention those! We're in the process of launching our online store soon and will be selling century bobs so keep your eyes peeled for that in the next month.

We were also considering running a promotion on bobs for the shop launch so the price should be pretty pleasing too.

Ok I'll stop the shameless plugging now!!

As for using them.. I'll leave that one to the more experienced martial edgers out there!...

Bob's an ugly beggar.

Needs a good kicking if you ask me.

Bob's looks would be greatly improved if a toupe was to be superglued to his head.

I'd still kick him in the face though, and would probably stub my toe in the process!

Re:BOB - Body Opponent Bag 5 Months, 1 Week ago
i have one of the cheaper variations on the bob, i got it for £100 after a bit of bartering and i bought a rowing machine aswell

as for actual usage id say its very helpful for improving things like accuracy of punches and kicks, i also find it helpful to be able to try techniques i have learnt in class on it to see how it relates to a real(ish) person without fear of injuring a training partner etc.
however it can be misleading to think it is the complete training tool as it does not react to your attacks in the same way an opponent would so always be very aware of things like your guard and speed of techniques, it can be very tempting just to smack the hell out of it and then develop bad sparing and real life habbits as a result
overall though i would say mine was money well spent, but £250 for the proper bob seems alot as i dont think it will be that much better than the other free-standing bags on the market such as this: http://www.simplyfitnessequipment.co.uk/Free-Standing-Bags/Torso-Man-with-Flexible-Post-Base

hope that was of some use

I personally think that a wall/ceiling hung punch/kick bag is better than a freestanding BOB or wavemaster from the ones I've hit.

i have to agree that as a training tool a hanging bag is probably better but it can be difficult to find the space or a suitable wall to hang it from, that is why i got a free standing one
