I'm really interested in this subject as i'm hoping to take my black belt in Tae Kwon Do this October, after that i want to continue my training at my club but would also like to get involved in another style. Do any of you have any suggestions?
My intention was to try Judo or Jujitsu as i think it would suit my upper body strength, or should i look to another kicking and punching style to hopefully compliment my Tae Kwon Do training?
I've also thought about reality based like Krav Maga. It's really important to me that i get this decision correct as i started in Martial arts at a more advanced age than most ( i'm 40 next year ) but i'm still quite fit and really enjoy my training. I'd appreciate your help.

I suppose it all depends on what you want to work on and how much time you have.

If you are more interested in self defence then Krav Maga may be the one to do. There are various flavours of KM and some focus more on grappling than others.

I'm not sure what the syllabus is in your TKD club, but doing something like Judo or BJJ would definitely help you in some of the ranges (stand up grappling and ground fighting) that TKD, in the main, doesn't address.

As for stand up then boxing, kickboxing or Muay Thai would give you a different slant on striking, plus the stand up clinch. Or there are kung fu styles such as Wing Chun.

If it's forms that you are into then something like Shotokan or Wado Ryu may be worth looking at.

Just think about what you want to acheive and what you enjoy. As others have said above, try other things and see what is out there.

Thanks for all the advice on this subject and i apologise for the length in time in replying. I have been very focused on my bb grading, which i'm delighted to say was successful.
The interesting part to me now looking back at my original post, is that i felt that i was coming to the end of a part of my life and was looking for the next chapter. I have now realised that i've still got a huge amount to learn in Tae Kwon Do and i'm really looking forward to doing so, the only thing that has changed is the colour of my belt.
However, i've also decided to go to a Ju Jitsu class next week just out of curiosity, even though i'm terrified that i will love it as much as Tae Kwon Do
