Intent can it beat technique, Who wants to win 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
The surveillance video is very good quality
A tiny clerk defending her store from an armed robber by brandishing an axe.

She stands less than 5-feet tall and weighs only 90 pounds, but Hafize Sahin can wield an axe.

Intent can beat technique. Who wants to win the most?

I remember commenting about intent on a previous post, I think maybe about knifes.

I basically said that the human phychology will employ the fight or flight mechanism.
If a humans life is in danger and the fight mechanism kicks in then that humans survival instincts may well prevail in a situation.
I also said that an attacker chooses to threaten life but a defender has no choice but to defend life.

So one is not considering there life at risk while the other is. Could the survival instinct to preserve life overpowering this attacker as the intentions are different?
That was not a skilled gun man, which I think took him by surprise and didn't want his life at risk so he fled....Flight or flight.

Yeah thats a good point. Sometimes people freeze and do nothing a bit like the play dead mechanism in other species behaviour. But I think thats a different mechanism, thats more like a reasoning process that through fear you deside that if you comply it will all just go away. Maybe if all exits are closed off for flight and your fight mechanism doesn't kick in because it wants to run, you freeze...

I think this is a very good point as intent or one's personal drive is everything when it comes to self defense or competition. When you have a strong goal, ie to win or to survive, your drive to prevail can lead you to do extra ordinary things.

Actually, it has really made me think about my own approach to achieving in Taekwondo as I've become a bit lax of late.

Thanks for the kick up the pants!
