Re:Martial Arts & Work Out's 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
At the moment I am mixing things up a bit, here's my weekly schedule:
Monday - 1hr MMA 1 1 1/1hrs kung fu
Tuesday - 1hrs cardio class then weights session
Wednesday- rest
Thursday - sparring (or rest)
Friday- 1hrs cardio then weights and/or sparring
Saturday 2hrs MMA then swim
Sunday 1hrs cardio then 1hrs kf/sparring
It's hard fitting everything in but it's a case of prioritising and working out what your goals are. At the moment mine is my grading in October which is a weekend, then also getting stronger for mma. I do the 3 sessions of cardio as I am trying to cut weight at the moment plus it helps a huge amount with my sparring.

Thanks Su Lin, its really helpful to see how others train. I'm trying to slowly build my training up. You're right about prioritising, it can be hard fitting it all in.

It took me a good couple of months to build up to that. I started off with the mma/kf and cardio then added gym at the weekend but for the first few weeks I was completely exhausted! You also need to up your food intake too .Eventually though it works out and now I am quite tired but it's possible to do. Good luck with it, let me know if you want tips or support or anything.

I might take you up on that offer, if I may Su Lin - cheers!
before I got ill, I did loads of weight training, running etc., in fact I probably over-did it.
You're SO right with the food - my next question would be - when does the metabolism adjust??? I go through phases of being able to out-eat anybody and yet have difficulty keeping my weight up
Thanks Ryusui_Ryu.
So, how do you guys get your training in around work, etc.?

I work full time and don't have any kids etc so I am lucky that out of work my time is my own! My house is generally a bombsite though as I have no time for house work!
In terms of metabolism mine is getting a lot faster I think. There are some days when I seem to eat loads and others where I am not hungry. If I'm not hungry but training I make sure I get protein and stuff some carbs down my throat so I get energy for training.

As i work full time in an office i have to fit it in around that.
I bike to work Mon and Wed (14 mile trip) then try to run at lunch 3 times a week. Train WT Mon and Wed after work and Sat or Sun i also try to go for a run.

And course, just let me know how I can help
That's very kind of you. Its good to be able to discuss. Its such an exciting time in my life - being able to get back into exercise is brilliant, but I've got to get it right.
Does the protein help the metabolism thing at all? I'm seriously questioning if I can remain veggie.
Who needs housework anyway!?!
