Doing a reverse turning hooking kick in TKD, 'cos it is the one thing I look cool doing!

(did I mention I am crap at press ups?)

And doing something where I actually progress rather than going round a gym like a hamster. And finding out more all the time, I like reading everything about martial arts (and writing about them of course).

And seeing my mates on a Wednesday night.

Favourite part of training?

I enjoy all the bits I do so padwork, kickboxing sparring, no-gi grappling, sparring with takedowns and grappling, self protection, fitness. I don't "like" doing stress drills in self defence, but I suppose that's the whole point and I enjoy them once they're over.

Favourite thing about martial arts in general must be the fact that I've made so many good friends over the years from training.

What about you?

I most enjoy teaching and watching those Aha! moments as a student gets something for the first time.

Most enjoyable for me personally is innovation: discovering how kata moves can be applied as bunkai (strikes, stepping/stances, positioning, leverage), so have redundancy (same move = many applications); also, how kata I was taught can be meshed with the techniques we use.

And the workout from a good class always leaves me feeling good for about 24 hours. So you'd think I'd work out every day, huh?

My favourite part if I HAD to choose would be the self knowledge and development gained through training

My favorite part in the martial arts? Hmmmmmm. Well when I'm working with someone that I can truly let myself go with, you know not have to worry about safety tooo much. When I can enter the zone and feel the power of the moment. Everything compresses in time. That moment is what I love most.

My favourite part in the martial arts?
It's easy to get complacent with your life and then to wake up one day and find that you've wasted a lot of time falling into too many unimportant routines and habits. What I like most about martial arts is the way it excites me, and wakes me up to a whole new set of challenges and interesting possibilities.

Right now I have to say I'm really loving the acrobatics and complex ground work of capoeira! The music aint half bad either!

Favourite bit of training....

Well i've just gotten onto Phase 2 of WT so i'm doing knees and elbows which i'm really enjoying although i have to say i especially enjoy Control and Restraint. Although i've only really been on the agressor side of things (I'm not at that grade/phase yet) i find it very very interesting.
