Yep got it!!

Stevenson had looked to be denied a chance to battle for the 87kg gold medal when she was defeated in her quarter-final bout against the reigning Olympic champion, China's Chen Zhong.

That was despite landing a head kick, which was over-looked by the judges, in the dying seconds of the final round.

It would have won her the two points which would have seen her win the quarter-final contest 2-1. Incredibly, the judges saw the incident differently deciding not to award her the points and ending her hopes of causing a huge upset.

Stevenson was enraged by the decision and Britain immediately launched a protest. After judges studied the video of the kick the result of the fight was reversed.

"The competition supervisory board has looked into this matter deeply, has made video analysis which has been open to all the referees and judges," the tournament director said.

"In applying paragraph two of page 64 of the competition rules of the World Taekwondo Federation we have to change this result and we have to declare the British player as winner.

"We are very sorry to the spectators of China but justice is first. Thank you for understanding."

Team GB's taekwondo team leader Gary Hall was delighted that the decision was overturned.

"Credit to the Chinese, they said the decision was wrong and needed to be overturned. And credit the World Taekwondo Federation for saying 'what is right is right' and overturning it," he said.

"It's been a frustrating hour, a very hard hour - and Sarah has been trying to stay focused."

Earlier, Stevenson, from Doncaster had moved into the quarter-finals with a narrow 3-2 win over Jordan's Nadin Dawani in front of the watchful eye of GB team-mate Aaron Cook.

Cook was yesterday seconds away from reaching the under 80kg final but a poor refereeing decision put paid to his hopes of defeating Italy's Mauro Sarmiento.

That kind of happened to Aarron yesterday with the chinese fighter. Aaron was clearly landing kicks and they were not scoring!!!!! It makes me feel better knowing that even at the highest level of competition - the olympics - judges are still influenced by a home crowd.

I remember clearly watching too TAGB tkd team members losing to opponents from Holland and France respectively - but they still gave the decisions to the UK fighters.

Video replays thats what I say!!

Absolutely!

Apologies for starting this topic, and then vanishing - I was mesmerised by what was unfolding!

Its unfortunate Sarah didn't have time to prepare herself for the next match, but I am glad she got a medal.
