Push hands is not bridge training in CMA.

Actually, it is a method of bridge training. Taiji push-hands also has many other functions - but it does also train bridging concepts.

Very interesting, I'll have to try out these bridging exercises. I'm always looking for new ways to train, and I've never come across these before...

You have changed your perspective from your original statement..

" Wing Chun sticky hands is the bridge-training for Wing Chun, as Push-Hands is for Taijiquan"

Absolutely not...push hands (sic btw) is still not THE bridge training for taijiquan.

You changed this (and didn't actually address your post and my counter post) to

"Actually, it is a method of bridge training. Taiji push-hands also has many other functions - but it does also train bridging concepts."

TaiJiQuan does have bridge training techniques, push hands not being anything like the main one (or indeed, as your original post stated the bridge training).

But then, compared to others here, what do I know, eh??

I've ammended the original post that seems to have offended you.

I stand by my claim however, that Push-hands is a method of bridge training (amongst others).

BT, whilst your stated 'credentials' are impressive, you have a tendency to come across as arrogant and distainful sometimes. I also thought that your first definition of push hands and bridging was incorrect. I am sure you are an easy going person who is passionate about MA's, I think you get a bit defensive sometimes.

There's a saying from "The Hobbit" that I like, said by Gandalf:

"I don't know everything, but when I do know something, I usually know best."

lol

I am passionate about martial arts, and I count myself fortunate to have trained with some seriously knowledgable people. What I've learned from these people has a certain "truth" to it in my opinion.
And that's what a forum is about - people's opinions. I don't mind people disagreeing with me, but I won't change my opinions (that I've come to through a lot of research and hard work) just because some people say I'm "wrong".

OK I'm on holiday but I thought I'd make the effort to attatch this file.

It is an extract by Gam Bok Yin explaining the theory behind the Bridging exercises and concepts of the Hung Gar Kung Fu system.

It is a bit of a lengthy read but worth it and I highly reccomend it to any Martial Arts enthusiast
