I'm not familiar with the book, but I've viewed Stephan Kesting's DVD, Introducing Yoga for Martial Arts. I admire the fact that he's trying to introduce the benefits of yoga to martial artists, but the video is a rather superficial introduction to basic yoga movements with little of the underpinnings of breathing and active meditation, and practically no explanation of how it might benefit martial artists.
Martial artists might be better served by any of the formal yoga instruction videos that would give them a deeper grounding in yoga itself, and then reflect independently on how they could apply this to their martial arts. A live class would be better yet.
Well the book actually explains why it's good as each yoga stretch is designed to help certain kicks, punches, etc etc.
In class you feel the difference, it's a good warm up and increases flexibility.
Thanks though for your reply.
