So if you were having a Barbecue and could invite absolutely anyone, alive or dead, who would your top ten people be to invite and why?

As you travel to the mountain, there may be people ahead of you. You may pass some of these people on the way, and some of them may pass you. You are all going to the same place, so it is as well to be civil to each other on the journey!

Good luck on your journey, I hope that our paths cross, and we may travel together for a time!

Re:Ideal Barby 3 Months ago
Here's mine;

Billy Connolly
Voted worlds funniest man, I've always wanted to meet him and he cracks me up.

Joanna Lumley
Had a childhood crush on her and she's such a lovely person.

Robin Williams
Cos he's arguably as funny as Billy Connolly and I think with the two of them together, I'd laugh myself to death.

Bruce Lee
Cos there's just so much we'd have to argue about.

Heather Mills
Cos I'd like to spike her drink, steal her leg and leeave her in the middle of nowhere.

Martin Taylor Cos he's an amazing guitar player and get's on with everyone. A lovely bloke!

Gordon Ramsay
Purely to flip burgers and to get some swearing lessons off of me.

Jesus
Cos boy does he have a lot of explaining to do.

Jimmi Hendrix
Him playing a duet with Martin Taylor would shut up Billy Connolly and Robin Williams.

William Shakespeare
Cos he'd do a damn good job of making a bit of theatre from the whole thing.

Of course, I'd invite everyone from Martial Edge too.

Only 10 eh?

1, Larry Carlton - Awesome fusion guitar player.
2, Morihei Ueshieba - founder of Aikido (obvious reasons)
3, George Bush - (so we can give him a wedgey and hang him like a pinyata)
4, Stevie Ray Vaughan - great blues guitar player, dead now but people should hear him play again!
5, The owner of the badger brewery (to supply the beer!)
6, Ani defranco -amazing singer songwriter/acoustic player (coz I prob wont get to see her play otherwise!)
7, The Druids - I want to know WTF stonehenge is all about!
8, The sumariens - I want to know WTF they knew!!
9, An Alien - one that doesn't kill us all (you meant anyone right?)
10, Steely Dan - Awesome musicians and with our guests we would have one hell of a jam!!

Of course the ME community would already be there so I wouldn't have to invite them :)

Oooh, goody!

1. Shakespeare - obviously

3. My friend Mirium from work - a female Stephen Fry, one of her bon mots can rip your sides out
4. Cary Grant - they don't make film stars like him anymore
5. The blokes from Top Gear - they should be a good laugh
6. Kermit the frog - he's funny
7. Emma Peel from the Avengers - she's cool and my childhood hero
8. Nigella Lawson - a much better cook than Jamie Oliver
9. Gene Hunt from Life on Mars - well someone has to get drunk and start a fight
10. Casanova - well, at least I'd have a reasonable chance of pulling....

1-2) Both my grandfathers at the same age I am now, so I could judge for myself if they were really all that, or if it was mostly myth.

3) King David, to ask How do you be a warrior-shepherd? I mean, really...

4) My Lil Bro, RIP, just to see that devilish glint in his eye again.

5-6) Attila the Hun and Genghis Khan--were they as atavistic as advertised?

All the others: The 17 teens from my classes whose funerals I've attended over the years due to gang violence, suicide, lack of health care, domestic violence, etc.--cos I miss 'em.

OK, so I went over 10. Do I have to wear those mule ears and tail again?

1. John F Kennedy - to see what he was actually like. It'd be interesting to get his views on the Cuban Missile Crisis and Bay of Pigs. Also I'd like to know how committed he would have been to the Vietnam War.

2. Adolf Hitler - again to see what he was like as a person. Also there are so many questions, like why did he declare war on the US?

3. Haruki Murakami - one of my favourite authors and it would be good to hear how he meant his stories to be interpreted.

4. Billy Connolly - funny funny guy.

5. Jackie Chan - was one of my heroes growing up. I'd ask him to bring Samo Hung and Yuen Biao with him.

6. Elvis Presley - a legend.

7. Johnny Ball - to explain it all.

8. The Stone Roses - okay not one person, but my favourite band.

9. Buzz Aldrin - he's been to the moon and doesn't mind taking about it.

10. Audrey Hepburn - to see if she was as beautiful in real life.
