i have a kubaton on me nearly always, are they legal in the UK to carry around?

yes and no. if you carry them to be used as a weapon then they are illegal. so think of some good excuses for having it!

Currently if you keep a weapon by your door or your bed and you use it, it is viewed as pre meditated murder by the law. And if you carry a knife or a gun your just outright rude! So what can one use as a weapon.

Not where I live? In my state you can threaten someone with a weapon in your own home, or shoot them if they are committing an act of violence (or the threat of violence) against anyone in the home.

But anywho, for carrying... box cutters, scissors, exacto knives, throwing darts, a can of vegetables, an unopened pop can, a pool ball (perhaps wrapped in a bandana) anything sharp with garlic rubbed on it(be careful with this one- garlic prevents a wound from healing, so it will be viewed as 'cruetly' by the judge, so don't do it unless you're playing for keeps) a rock, a cane, a cord, a spiked ring, cayenne pepper, broken glass, a nearby fixed object (slam them to it)
The possibilities are endless. Just find something either blunt or sharp.

As for myself I carry various tools of self defense among them are:
Tactical Folding knifes, an Springfield XD 40 (well I did hope to have it back soon), a C2 Taser, my keys.

All of these have their place and purpose, some are more useful than others depending on the situation.

If u'r wearing a belt you could always use that as a wip or a sort of morning star (if you struck with the buckle). To bad I'm a teen, if you get my meaning ^^

Actually it's a common misconception that more guns = more crime. There's actually a good book titled "More guns, less crime". http://www.amazon.com/More-Guns-Less-Crime-Understanding/dp/0226493636

I am SO glad to be living in America, where I have the right to own and carry firearms. There simply is no better tool to defend yourself with. And the idea that I would not be able to legally defend myself or my family, especially in my own home, is nauseating at best.

What has been recently 'rediscovered' here in America, is that when gun ownership INCREASES, violent crimes of all sorts DECREASE. Think about it: in my state of Michigan (and in about 44 of the 50 states) it is legal to carry a concealed weapon to defend yourself. The criminals don't know who has a gun and who doesn't. And in every state (and now also in the District of Columbia) it is legal to have a gun in your home to defend yourself (also no permit is required). Also, you have NO "duty to retreat" in the presence of a dangerous criminal, whether in your home or not. If you reasonably fear that your life is being threatened, you may use deadly force to protect yourself.

Personally I view it as an extension of my martial arts training. It gives me more options than just my hands and feet. Also, I teach all of my adult students, if they wish it, how to use firearms. At the very least, you must know how to use a weapon in order to effectively defend against it. Can you imagine being taught knife defenses without ever being taught how to USE a knife? I can't!

Owning firearms is a wonderful freedom to have and I have no doubt my family is safer because of it.
