The B.S.K.'s main concern is to maintain an organization of the highest standards in Shotokan Karate with an attitude of friendship to all Shotokan groups for the benefit of the style world wide. Regular courses are run throughout the year by the Senior Instructors of the B.S.K. and also with some of the worlds most renown Japanese Instructors. This is to ensure that the knowledge of both our senior Japanese and British instructors is passed down to students, thus ensuring continued growth in Budo and Waza. There are spring and autumn gasshakus (training weekends) run by the B.S.K.'s Chief Instructor and his team of senior instructors. This will help ensure the perpetuation and international recognition of our members. Junior Karate-ka are well catered for within the B.S.K. with special courses and tournaments being run specifically for them. Instructors are given guidance within the E.K.G.B. (English Karate Governing Body) package, which works towards the safety of juniors within the dojo environment. With the association being well insured through its E.K.G.B. licence scheme, the senior instructors all have first aid and / or para-medical training which is taught to students on special courses. The association welcomes disabled karate-ka as Budo is as much in the soul as in the body. The association holds its AGM annually where instructors are entitled to air their views and ideas to the executive. The B.S.K. issues a calendar of events at the beginning of each training year which is followed up with a bi-monthly newsletter to all instructors. |
