Universal Martial Arts Center

"Universal Martial Arts Center was started in 2000 by Master (SABUMNIM) Vincent Sinclair and Senior Instructor (KYOBUMNIM) Arthur Henry. With the help of Instructors (KYOSAHNIM) Urbane Waterman and Vincent Sinclair, Jr. they established a school (DOJANG) to spread the values and traditions of Courtesy, Integrity, Perserverance, Self-control and Indomitable Spirit. Teaching styles including the Korean style of Taekwondo and Hapkido, the Japanese style of Judo, the Chinese style of Tai Chi, the Brazilian styles of Caopoeira or Jiujutsu, Universal Martial Arts Center offers a wide variety with which to spread the martial way.

Universal Martial Arts Center has viewed helping our local community as an important task; teaching children, teens and adults proper self-defense and self-respect. These values are stressed in class and on the street, where it counts. Sabumnim Sinclair has always striven to instill these values of self-disciple, self-respect and respect for others, in his instructors and students. Taekwondo Instructors: Mr. Antonio, Mr. David, Mr. Rawle and Mr. Barry; in addition to the other stylist teachers, Sensei Sule for Judo, Sifu Dudley for Tai Chi, Profesor Antonio for Capoeira and Mr. Carmine Zocchi for Brazilian Juijutsu, help Sabumnim provide quality instruction for our community.

Parental involvement in the process of, growing a student from when they first arrive as a white belt, to when they obtain their Black Belt a number of years later is a key part of our program. Parents play an important role in the development and maturity from a new student learning a style to becoming the newest junior instructor. Universal Martial Arts Center continues to instill important life lesson and values on students by continuing their education of the martial arts at home when they leave the Dojang. Parents are important as they our are support structure inside the home.

Universal Martial Arts Center is certified and licensed with the World Jidokwan Federations (WJDKF), World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), USA Taekwondo (USAT) and the International Combat Hapkido Federation (ICHF). Our credentials mean that our students' rank certifications are nationally and internationally recognized and our students are welcome to train at any USAT/WTF/ICHF school in the country or the world."
