| About My School: | We are a collection of classes taught at various YMCA's, Community Centers, and schools in the Metro Detroit area, under one association, the American and Korean Tae Kwon Do schools. We are NOT a commercial school - we believe the training should be as *inexpensive* as possible - we believe commercialization can destroy the art. Our style is 'eclectic' - the word used before 'mixed' became popular. Our core is WTF Tae Kwon Do but we also blend Aiki-jutsu, Aikido, Karate, boxing, Krav Maga, and grappling techniques into our art. Some of our instructors emphasize the sporting aspect, but most believe Tae Kwon Do is first a form a self-defense, then self-improvement, and lastly a sport. We teach the Tae'guk AND Palgwe forms, and both ITF and WTF black belt forms. |
