Hi Li. Thanks for the positive comments, always nice to hear we're doing a good job! Yes I went to Leeds University in my student days and current live in Leeds city centre so know it pretty well. My opinion is its great! I'm a southerner at heart (before I lived near Cambridge) but really love living in leeds (or I "live it love it!" as they say up here!). Its big enough to be a buzzing city, small enough to be cosy, the people are generally very friendly, the nightlife is great and theres something for everyone... so all thumbs up from me on that front! With regards to Kung Fu I'm afraid I'm not too sure of anywhere off the top of my head but best place to ask would be the forums as I know there is a lot of Leeds folk logging on there. Hope that helps!

Hey, no worries about who's an instructor, seniority and so forth. I hate it when people stand on ceremony, and will be the last to do it myself. ;-) BTW, I learn more from my students than probably anyone else, and they're of course much newer to the arts than I. Good to have you on the board. It's shaping up to be a very good one.

The best explanation I could give for San Soo is to take a peak at the vid clip on my profile page. It's maybe a little similar to San Shou (as in what Cung Le does), but that is sport and mine is TMA.

It's very good of you to answer me so fully, thank you! The class starts in a few weeks time, and I might like to get back to you then? That's if you don't mind of course!?

P.S. This is all that David Carradine's fault anyway!?! Guess ya just never forget that first tantalising feeling of being drawn towards something... even years later, lol :>)

Thanx for that Rising Crane..
I took up taiji (Yang Style) 4 years ago, after a lower back operation that had left me a long way from fit, hoping it would help with the pain, because nothin else had worked thus far. It did fix me - or more correctly it showed me how to fix myself, I guess, but sadly my teacher only does classes for relaxation, health and meditation, and doesn't teach taiji as a martial art.
In fact there's no-one in my cultural backwater of Dumfries who DOES teach taiji as a fighting art, Which is a shame because there's something I'm really drawn to about it.
In fact the choice of martial arts that are available at all in my area is pretty limited altogether?! ..So when I saw the posters at my club as you can imagine I was very interested to know more, however one thing puzzles me, the style of kungfu that my club will be starting is billed up as Tai Chi Chuan Shaolin Kungfu, which is a little confusing, because I was under the impression that taichi and kungfu were different styles, can you shed any light on this?
